The automated Cylinder Cutout Test result of "Questionable" requires the technician to verify that the Injector Trim File is correct for the injector that is installed in the engine.

If the cylinder has the status of "Questionable," the technician should take the following steps:

  1. Select the "Create Report" button from the bottom of the "Cylinder Cutout Test Results" screen.

  1. Verify the Injector Serial Number that is stamped on the injector. Removal of the engine valve cover is necessary for a cylinder that displays a status of "Questionable" during the test.

  1. Type the Injector Serial Number, which is stamped on the injector, into the appropriate text field that is displayed in the "Cylinder Cutout Test Results" screen.

If the Injector Serial Number that is stamped on the physical injector does not match the Injector Serial Number that is programmed into the Electronic Control Module (ECM), you must install the proper Injector Trim File for the Injector Serial Number in the engine. This is done in the "Injector Trim Calibration" function of Cat ET.

OR

If the Injector Serial Number that is stamped on the injector matches the Injector Serial Number that is programmed into the ECM, select the "Next" button and then continue with the repair as you are instructed by Cat ET.
