Problem

The hydraulic tank fill strainer needs to be replaced on certain 834B Wheel
Tractors and 988B Loaders. The new strainer has a shoulder to better retain
the o-ring seal.

Action Required

Remove all 9T3849 Strainers from parts stock that were made to the former
design (Engineering Change 1 or earlier). See the Illustration.

At the next oil change, replace the 9T3849 Strainer in the hydraulic tank
with a new strainer of the same part number (made to engineering change 2).See
the Illustration. If the o-ring is missing from the old strainer, check
for it in the tank. If the o-ring is not on the strainer or in the tank,
check the pilot filter and the filters after the implement pump and steering
pump for o-ring debris. Clean as necessary.
