--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
True top center on 3300 DI (Direct Injection) Engines can be found more easily and accurately with the new 6V2056 Rod and 6V2057 Point (Illustration 1). The rod and point are used with the 5P6524 Engine Timing Indicator Group and the 1P540 Flow Checking Tool Group. The contact point is 3.2 mm (0.13") thick and has a 9.5 mm (0.37") diameter flat face. This design permits the point to stay in contact with the peak (upper part of the face) of the piston for correct measurement. Also, the rod is too short to come into contact with the side of the piston crater and cause damage to either the rod or piston.
Illustration 1. New 6V2056 Rod and 6V2057 Point.
The length of the 6V2056 Rod prevents the measurement of crankshaft postions of more than 20° BTC (before top center). Within these limits, the tool may be used to find true top center for correct timing bolt hole position.
To assemble the tool, drop the 6V2056 Rod into the 5P7266 Adapter (Illustration 2). Fasten the 6V2057 Point into the rod. Use a 9S8883 Contact Point (12.7 mm long) on the 9S215 Dial Indicator.

NOTE: If a large number of 3300 DI Engines are to be measured, the 6V2056 Rod and the 6V2057 Point can be permanently assembled in the 5P7266 Adapter with 7M7456 Compound on the threads of the 6V2057 Point.
The chart which follows gives the piston position for each crankshaft angle shown. The piston positions on the chart have been corrected for the angle between the fuel nozzle hole and piston. Refer to Special Instruction, Form SMHS7083-03, for further details on the 5P6524 Engine Timing Indicator Group and the 1P540 Flow Checking Tool Group.
