(1) Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock on the threads of 16 bolts.
Torque for 16 bolts ... 530 ± 70 N·m (390 ± 50 lb ft)
(2) Apply 1U-8846 Gasket Maker on the flange of the gear.
(3) Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to the surfaces in contact with dowel pin (3).
(4) Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to the surfaces in contact with bearing (4).
(5) At assembly, O-rings of floating seal and all surfaces in contact with the O-rings must be clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of oil on the contacting surfaces of the metal seals before installation.
(6) Torque for two plugs ... 80 ± 10 N·m (60 ± 7 lb ft)
(7) After the installation of six spring pins, make stake marks near the opening of each spring pin hole. An example is shown in VIEW A-A.
(8) Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock to the threads of 16 bolts.
Torque for 16 bolts ... 270 ± 40 N·m (200 ± 30 lb ft)
To adjust the preload of bearing (4) , complete the following procedure.
- Place a load (P) of 4000 kg (8820 lb) on bearing (4) .
- To seat the bearing, rotate the housing (11) .
- Reduce load (P) to 1000 ± 100 kg (2200 ± 220 lb).
- Measure dimension (C) .
- Measure dimension (D) of gear (9) .
- Use shims (10) to achieve the correct clearance between the bearing (4) and the gear (9). The formula for achieving the correct clearance is (D-C) ± 0.05 mm (.002 inch).
Note: If two shims (10) are used, place the thinnest shim next to gear (9) .

- Thickness of one shim ... 0.15 mm (.006 inch)
