Engine Oil Drain Pump - Remove and Install

Usage:

3034 CPP

Removal Procedure

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Disconnect hose (4) from connector (5) for the engine oil pan.

  1. Disconnect hose (4) from pump (1) and remove hose (4) from the engine.

  1. Remove allen head screws (2) that attach pump (1) to the engine.

  1. Remove pump (1) from the engine.

  1. Remove clamps (3) from pump (1) .

  1. Remove connector (5) and O-ring (6) from the engine oil pan.

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

  1. Install new O-ring (6) onto connector (5). Install the connector onto the engine oil pan.

  1. Install hose (4) to connector (5) .

  1. Install clamps (3) to pump (1). Install the pump to the engine with allen head screws (2) .

  1. Attach hose (4) to pump (1) .
