NOTICE

Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat^® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the assembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Lower the temperature of bearings (24), (26), and (27). Use Tooling (G) to install bearings (24), (26), and (27) to frame (25). Install bearing (26) with the seal facing up and install bearing (27) with the seal facing down.

Lower the temperature of bearings (19), (20), (21), (22), and (23). Use Tooling (G) to install bearings (19), (20), (21), (22), and (23) to support (18).

Install pin assembly (12). Use Tooling (D) to install retaining ring (11). Attach a suitable lifting device to pin assembly (12) and position support (18). The weight of support (18) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).
Install pin assembly (17).
Use Tooling (D) to remove retaining ring (11). Remove pin assembly (12) and the suitable lifting device.

Install pin assembly (15). Use Tooling (D) to remove retaining ring (16). If necessary, install bracket (14).

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to position boom assembly (10). The weight of boom assembly (10) is approximately 454 kg (1000 lb).
Connect hose assembly (13). Install pin assembly (12) and the shims. Use Tooling (D) to install retaining ring (11).

Connect hose assemblies (8). Install clamp (9) to the boom.

Remove the suitable lifting strap and Tooling (B) from boom cylinder (5).

Install cover (1). Connect hose assemblies (2), (3), and (4) and install the mounting hardware.
