Shear Capacity

The following table provides an overview of the profiles of steel that can be cut by the shear. The profiles are the most common profiles. The profiles are made of Fe360 (ASTM 283C) steel.

The dimensions of the profiles are the maximum dimension that can be safely cut. Consult your Caterpillar dealer before you cut materials that are larger than the dimensions in the table. Consult your Caterpillar dealer before you cut steel that has a rating that is higher than Fe510 (ASTM A572Gr50).
