(2) Rod Adjuster

(3) Valve

(4) Brake pressure tap

  1. Stop the engine.

  1. Connect a 10000 kPa (1450 psi) pressure gauge to tap (4) .

  1. Start the engine.

Note: The parking brake must be in the OFF position during the adjustment of the brake pressure.

  1. Place the engine speed dial in the HIGH IDLE position.

  1. Fully depress the brake pedal until the brake pedal locks mechanically.

  1. Check the brake pressure at tap (4). Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications" in this manual for the correct brake pressure.

  1. If the brake pressure does not meet specifications, loosen locknut (1) and turn rod adjuster (2) until the correct pressure is achieved.

Note: If the brake pedal is released, adjusting the rod is easier.

  1. Release the service brake. Stop the engine and disconnect the 10000 kPa (1450 psi) pressure gauge.

  1. Connect a 8T-0853 Pressure Gauge 400 kPa (58 psi) to pressure tap (4) .

  1. Start the engine but do not depress the brake pedal. The pressure should not exceed 20 kPa (2.9 psi).

  1. If the brake residual pressure exceeds 20 kPa (2.9 psi), the stop screw must be lowered in order to decrease the brake pressure. The stop screw is located at the back of the brake pedal on the bottom.

  1. If it was necessary to adjust the residual brake pressure, repeat Steps 5 and 7 in order to make sure that the brake pressure is adjusted properly.
