  1. Install a new lower half of the connecting rod bearing in connecting rod bearing cap (2).

  2. Install a new upper half of the connecting rod bearing in the connecting rod.

  3. Pull the connecting rod on the crankshaft.

  4. Use Tooling (B) to check the connecting rod bearing clearances.

  5. Apply Tooling (C) to the connecting rod bolt threads. Install connecting rod bearing cap (2) on the connecting rod. The number on the side of the connecting rod bearing cap is on the same side as the number on the connecting rod. Tighten nuts (1) on connecting rod bearing cap (2) to a torque of 82 ± 8 N·m (60 ± 6 lb ft). Put a mark on each nut and on each connecting rod bearing cap (2). Tighten each nut for an additional 120 ± 5 degrees.

End By:

  1. Install the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Install".
