Introduction

Hydraulic oil leakage can occur through the cap and diaphragm if components are damaged or not properly installed. The following checks should be performed on the brake reservoirs on the above listed 416E Backhoe Loaders.

1. Check for contamination and scratches on the seal and top, threaded portion of the tank.

   Note: Because the cap and tank are soft for plastic, the two may occur scratches when closed forcibly, that may cause leakage.

2. Check that the top of the tank and seal have proper contact.

1. Check the cap seal assembly. Ensure that the seal is on correctly, look for the following things:

• Cap and seal – three "mistake proofing" shapes may be misaligned

• Cap seal - Upside down

If the tank is replaced per brake reservoir kit (4), remove seal ring (1) and support ring (2).
