Service Brake - Check

Usage:

994K MM9

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.

Sudden movement of the machine or release of air pressure or oil pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.

To help prevent possible injury before testing and adjusting any air system or hydraulic system, perform the procedure in the Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" section.

Be sure that the machine is in an open area and that the area is clear of personnel.

Place the steering frame lock in the stored position.

Position the machine on a dry, hard, level surface.

  1. Fasten the seat belt. Start the engine and allow the oil pressure in the accumulator to reach 13790 ± 690 kPa (2000 ±100 psi). Raise the bucket slightly.

  2. Apply the service brakes and disengage the parking brake.

  3. Move the STIC control lock to the UNLOCKED position.

  4. Move the STIC upshift switch to place the transmission in third speed FORWARD. Move the STIC transmission direction control switch to the FORWARD (F) position.

  5. Gradually increase the engine speed to high idle. The machine must not move.

  6. Reduce the engine speed to low idle. Move the STIC transmission direction control switch to NEUTRAL (N) position. Engage the parking brake. Lower the bucket to the ground. Stop the engine.

Note: Perform the same test for the service brake pedal and for the left pedal.
