Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

When performing maintenance above ground level, always use appropriate devices such as ladders and man lift machines. |
- Operate the machine for a few minutes in order to warm the hydraulic system oil.
- Level the loader using the stabilizers. Stop the machine engine.
Note: The return filter cartridge and the hydraulic tank breaker relief valve are located under the access cover behind the loader cab.

- Drain the oil from the hydraulic oil tank by removing the hydraulic oil tank drain plug (1) and opening the drain valve (2).
- Move the hydraulic lockout control to the UNLOCKED position.
- Turn the engine start switch to the ON position.
- Move the joysticks and the travel levers/pedals to the full stroke positions in order to relieve the pressure in the pilot lines.
- Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position and return the lever for the hydraulic lockout control to the LOCKED position.

- Loosen the pilot filter housing retaining nut.
Note: Use a socket or box end wrench when loosening/tightening housing retaining nut.
Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.
- Remove the filter housing from the filter base.
- Remove the pilot filter element from the filter housing
Note: Used filters should always be disposed of according to local regulations.
- Clean the filter base.
- Install the new oil filter into pilot filter housing.
Instructions for the installation of the filter are printed on the side of each Caterpillar filter. For non-Caterpillar filters, refer to the installation instructions that are provided by the supplier of the filter.
- Install pilot filter housing and filter on to pilot filter base.
Note: Use a socket or box end wrench to torque filter retaining bolt.
- Torque retaining nut to specifications.
- Check the hydraulic oil level.
