Front of Water Tank (1) Proportional valves (2) Front manifold group |
Manifold assemblies are located at the front and rear of the water tank. The manifold assemblies are comprised of front (or rear) hydraulic manifolds and pilot manifolds.
The front manifold assembly is located on the front of the water tank. The front assembly is comprised of multiple proportional valves (1) in pilot manifolds and one front manifold group (2). The water cannon and the front spray heads are controlled by the manifolds.
Proportional valves (1) of the pilot manifolds control the front spray head cylinders. Proportional valve solenoids are used in order to control hydraulic oil to each spray head cylinder. The solenoids are controlled by the display module via the XA2-A3 module in the front control box.
The flow control valve for the water cannon and the cannon articulating motors are controlled by the solenoids in front manifold group (2).
The control system defines the operation of each specific solenoid. Specific solenoid and manifold placement varies with installed options. The assigned wire colors and numbers can be traced to specific components using the electrical schematic.

Rear of Water Tank (3) Pilot manifolds (4) Rear manifold group |
The rear manifold assembly is located on the rear of the vehicle. The rear assembly is comprised of multiple proportional valves in multiple pilot manifolds (3) and one rear manifold group (4).
The pilot manifolds control rear spray head cylinders. Pilot manifold solenoids are used in order to control oil to each spray head cylinder. The solenoids are controlled by the display module via the XA2-A1 module in the rear control box.
The AUX flow control valve for the dump bar or tank drain is controlled by the solenoids in the rear manifold group.

Location Varies by Vehicle (5) Head assembly (6) Differential pressure switch (7) S·O·S tap (blue cover) (8) Pressure test port (black cover) (9) Filter unit |
The oil filter group is generally located on the vehicle frame for convenient inspection, testing, and servicing.
The oil filter group consists of head assembly (5). This assembly contains the following components:
- Internal differential relief valve
- Differential pressure switch (6)
- S·O·S tap (blue cover) (7)
- Pressure test port (black cover) (8)
- Filter unit (9)
The relief valve permits oil to bypass filter unit (9) when the filter becomes restrictive to flow. The differential pressure required in order to open the bypass is
Differential pressure switch (6) senses the differential in pressure between the filter inlet and the filter outlet. This switch actuates above
The switch status is monitored by the display via the cab XA2-A2 module. An actuated switch signal invokes a visual warning on the display screen and places an event in log files.

Various Locations Around Vehicle (10) Valve group (spray head) |
The water valve groups (spray heads) (10) are placed in various locations around the perimeter of the vehicle. Configuration is dependent on installation.
The spray head is a linear water valve containing a hydraulically actuated lift-ram with compliant circular puck seal. The puck seals against the periphery of the water port. The puck is spring-loaded in the closed position.
The valve for the rear spray heads is controlled by the display module via the rear XA2-A1 module. The display module uses the front XA2-A3 module in order to control the optional front spray heads. Water flow is controlled by activating the appropriate pilot manifold solenoids in the manifold assembly. Hydraulic pressure in the lift ram then counteracts the closing spring pressure. This action lifts the puck proportionally off the water port seat for variable flow rates.

Side of Vehicle Chassis (11) WDS Hydraulic oil tank (12) Oil level gauge (13) Oil level sensor (14) Oil temperature sensor group |
The hydraulic oil tank for the WDS is located on the side of the vehicle chassis for the 777F and 777G. The WDS hydraulic oil tank located on the side of the front air cleaner on the 785D.
Hydraulic oil tank (11) contains several components. These components include oil level gauge (12), oil level sensor 13, and oil temperature sensor (14).
The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank for the WDS is
Oil level gauge (12) is mounted on the viewable side of tank (11) for easy viewing. This sight gauge has a clear tube assembly with a level line. The oil level must be maintained between the minimum and maximum fill lines.
Hydraulic oil level sensor (13) is located on the viewable side of the WDS hydraulic oil tank. This component is next to hydraulic oil level gauge (12). The two components do not interact.
If the oil level is below the sensor location, a signal is generated. The voltage signal from hydraulic oil level sensor (13) is monitored by the display via the cab XA2-A2 module. A signal indicating critically low oil level invokes an audible (horn) warning and a visual warning to shut- down on the display screen. Simultaneously, this signal causes the water pump system to shutdown, and the event is entered in log file.
Oil temperature sensor (14) is located on the viewable side of the hydraulic oil tank.
The oil temperature sensor transmits an analog voltage signal to the display via the cab XA2-A2 module. The analog voltage data varies with temperature. The temperature data is used by the display to determine fan operation for hydraulic oil cooling.
