Fuel Filter (In-Line) - Replace

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately. |
Note: Refer to Systems Operation, Testing, and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system.

The location of the in-line fuel filter will depend on the application that the engine has been installed.
- Turn the fuel supply valve (if equipped) to the OFF position. Remove any brackets that hold the in-line fuel filter (1) in place, refer to OEM information.
- Release the hose clips (3) and remove the hose lines from the in-line fuel filter. Remove the in-line filter.
- Install a new in-line filter and secure, refer to OEM information. Ensure that the arrow mark (2) is aligned to the direction of fuel flow from the tank to the fuel pump.
- Install the fuel hose lines and install the hose clips (3). Turn the fuel supply valve (if equipped) to the ON position.
- The in-line fuel filter must be changed with the primary filter and the secondary fuel filter.
