Description of Change: The track carrier roller for the machine models listed has been improved in four areas:

The new track carrier roller has a stronger shaft with improved material and heat treatment. This will increase the service life of the track carrier roller.

The new track carrier roller has a press-on seal retainer which eliminates the traditional retaining pins. This allows easier installation of the track carrier roller into the mounting stand.

The new track carrier roller has wider roller treads which improve the support surface for the track links. This prevents track link overhang on the track carrier roller.

The new track carrier roller has a recessed press-on end cover. This improves roller durability by better protecting the roller from field impact loads and eliminates the traditional cover mounting bolts.

Adaptable To: The former 1P-8717 Track Carrier Roller is cancelled and service replaced by the improved 360-2560 Track Carrier Roller. The shaft diameter of the former and new track carrier roller is the same. The new track carrier roller will directly adapt to any machine model that used the former track carrier roller. The new track carrier roller is serviced only at the group level.

The improved 360-2560 Track Carrier Roller is adaptable and effective in production with the machines that are listed in Table 1.

Replacement Procedure

Use a wire wheel to clean the stand in the mounting area of the carrier roller mounting bolt. Then, install the bolt (5) into the bracket. Do not tighten the bolts (5) .

Align the carrier roller (6) such that carrier roller will be centered with the track.

First, place one end of a string on the center of a sprocket tooth. Place the other end of the string on the center of the front idler center flange.

Pull the string tight and align the carrier roller (6) so that the inside flanges are centered with the string. If required, tap the roller inward or outward until the carrier roller flanges are centered with the string.

When the carrier roller is centered, tighten the bracket mounting bolts to the proper torque specified in Table 2.

Custom Track Service (CTS)

The improved 360-2560 Track Carrier Roller has the same roller tread diameter and same allowable wear limit to 100% tread wear as the former 1P-8717 Track Carrier Roller. Due to internal geometry differences in the roller shell, the ultrasonic wear measurement is different for the new track carrier roller.
