View of the right side of the transmission (1) Speed sensor (transmission intermediate) |
Transmission intermediate speed sensor is located on the right side of the planetary gears of the transmission.
The transmission intermediate speed sensor receives power from the Chassis Electronic Control Module (Chassis ECM). The sensor uses the power from the Chassis ECM in order to send a signal back to the Chassis ECM. The gear for the transmission speed sensor has 46 teeth. The gear for speed sensor (1) is part of the planetary transmission.
The number of teeth on the gear will determine the signals that are sent by speed sensor (1) to the Chassis ECM. The signal informs the Chassis ECM of the transmission input shaft speed.
The information that speed sensor (1) sends to the Chassis ECM is for the adaptive shifting strategy. The adaptive shifting strategy improves the shift quality and maximizes clutch durability.
