Description of Change: A new striker assembly is now used for the cab door groups on the machines listed above. The new design of the striker assembly features a bolted joint in the base of the striker pin for improved reliability. Certain Forestry Machines, Track Feller Bunchers, and Vibratory Soil Compactors will need the latch cover modified for the new striker to work. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5409, "Procedure to Modify the Latch Cover to Accept a New Striker Assembly on Certain Forestry Machines and Track Feller Bunchers" for the procedure to modify the latch cover.

Striker Adjustment Procedure

1. Close the door. Locate the striker in the cab so the striker is centered vertically in the latch jaws and engages the jaws smoothly. Be sure that the striker does not guide the door upward or downward.

2. Check for interference between the striker head and jaws or the latch case. Readjust the striker if required.

3. Check for both secondary and primary latch position. Primary latched position is when the door is fully closed and fully latched. Secondary latch position is when the door is latched but the jaws are not in the primary latch position. If primary closed position is not achieved due to high seal presure or striker position, loosen striker on door post and adjust striker. Retorque as specified.

   Note: Hinge adjustment may also be required to achieve primary position or correct door seal pressure. Be careful to not improperly adjust the door such that the door fully closes against the seal with the latch in the secondary position. Excessive seal pressure will result in high opening efforts.
