773G and 775G Quarry Trucks Braking System Caterpillar

1. Apply parking brake.

2. Ensure:

   1. Machine is stationary

   2. Engine is running

   3. ARC switch is on

   4. ARC/TCS enable solenoid is activated

   5. Right and left ARC/TCS proportional solenoids are activated

3. Monitor the brake air pressure for correct operation.

If a problem exists with the retarder system, perform the following:

1. Ensure that the manual retarding (retarder lever) is operational.

2. Perform the following functional test to check the ARC.

   1. Initiate the Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET).

   2. Select the "Brake ECM".

   3. Select "Service" from the drop-down menu.

   4. Click on the "Start" button to begin the test.

      The supply valve opens and the control valve gradually allows full brake system air to flow during the test. Then, the control valve will gradually stop the flow of brake system air and the supply valve will close. The cycle is then repeated. The ARC will gradually increase the pressure of the brake system to full pressure. The ARC will then decrease the pressure of the brake system to zero.

      Note: The test of the automatic retarder will terminate if a fault is detected during the test.

   5. Follow the instructions displayed on Cat ET to complete this procedure.
