ST 4 Serial Number Fault
Conditions Which Generate This Code:
This diagnostic code occurs when the sonic tracer fails to validate the serial number of the device.
Test Step 1. CYCLE THE POWER TO THE SYSTEM
- Turn the key start switch for the machine to the OFF position.
- Turn the key start switch for the machine to the ON position.
- Check the status of the diagnostic code "ST 4".
Expected Result:
The diagnostic code is not active.
Results:
- YES - The diagnostic code is not active. Return the machine to normal operation.
STOP
- NO - The diagnostic code is active.
Repair: If the diagnostic code is still active, contact your technical communicator for a possible consultation with Caterpillar.
