Usage:
1. Interview the driver to determine the details of the problem (when the problem occurs and under what conditions).
2. Determine which operational problem exists. See the Operational Problem Chart section.
3. Check voltages and/or ohms at the connector shown to the right of the existing operational problem in the Operational Problem Chart. See the Location of 3406C (PEEC III) Truck System Connectors section to help determine the physical location of the connectors.
4. Correct any error that is found within the truck connectors, pins, wires or switches. (Use the truck wiring schematic to follow current flow.)
5. If the problem is not resolved by obtaining the correct voltages and/or ohms at the appropriate connectors, the problem may be within the 3406C (PEEC III) Engine System (Caterpillar responsibility) or one of the two areas shown in the following section, 3406C (PEEC III) Truck System Tests Not Covered by the Volt-Ohm Meter.
Further tests will require the use of a 3406C (PEEC III) service tool, either the (7X6400) Digital Diagnostic Tool (DDT) or (8T8697) Electronic Control Analyzer And Programmer (ECAP).
