Park the machine on a level surface. Move the parking brake control to the ENGAGED position and shut off the engine. Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".
- Remove the dust cap and install a 21000 kPa (3000 psi) pressure gauge to the test fitting for the steering system.
ReferenceRefer to Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" for the location of the test fitting for the machine that is being tested.
- Turn the engine start switch to the 1 position.
- Press the switch in order to activate the electric drive pump. Hold the switch and record the pressure that is displayed on the pressure gauge. This is the standby pressure of the secondary steering system.
The standby pressure of the secondary steering system should be 2100 ± 700 kPa (300 ± 100 psi).

- Release the switch in order to deactivate the electric drive pump.
- Press the switch and hold the switch.
- Rotate the steering wheel clockwise until the steering frame lock prevents the machine from articulating.
Record the pressure that is displayed on the pressure gauge. This is the maximum pressure of the secondary steering system.
- Rotate the steering wheel counterclockwise until the steering frame lock prevents the machine from articulating.
Record the pressure that is displayed on the pressure gauge. This is the maximum pressure of the secondary steering system.
The maximum pressure of the secondary steering system should be 13800 ± 700 kPa (2000 ± 100 psi).
- Release the switch.
- Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position and remove the pressure gauge from the machine.
- Remove the steering frame lock.
If the maximum pressure and the standby pressure of the secondary steering system are incorrect, there may be a problem with the electric drive pump or with one of the components of the secondary steering system.
