泵的控制阀 (3) 根据系统负荷和系统流量的需要,自动维持泵的压力和流量以满足要求。 在没有使用液压机具和转向回路时,泵则处在低压备用状态。 然而,如有一个或多个回路在用,信号决定阀就把机具控制阀的信号压力与转向信号压力进行比较。 把最高的决定信号通到泵的控制阀。 泵的控制阀 (3) 就此向泵发出信号,以维持需要的流量和压力。 压差大约是2100 kPa (305 psi), 高于信号压力。 泵的信号与泵的输出之间的差别就叫压差。

如果低压备用低于2660 kPa (380 psi) 或高于 4000 kPa (580 psi),就需要检查压差。 如果压差超出技术规格,就调整压差。 参阅测试和调整, "泵的控制阀(液压转向) – 测试和调整"章节。

泵的控制阀同时还有限制系统压力的功能,以防止过负荷。 如果系统压力快速上升,压力补偿装置就超越流量补偿的作用。 这就降低泵的输出流量。 这个动作从以下机具卸压阀的设定开始, 在破坏性高压出现时,其为液压系统提供保护。
