Assembly Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Note: Lubricate the internal components with the lubricant that is being sealed.

1. Use Tooling (A) to install two sleeve bearings (10) in manifold assembly (9). Install the bearings into the bores so that the bearings are 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) below the surface of the manifold assembly. Install the bearings so that the bearing joints are 30° ± 15° from the centerline, as shown.

   Note: After installation the bore of new bearings must be 31.786 ± 0.008 mm (1.2514 ± 0.0003 inch).

2. Install O-ring seal (11).

3. Install four dowels (7) to body assembly (8).

   Note: The correct assembled height of the locating dowels (C) is 6 ± 0.5 mm (0.25 ± 0.02 inch).

4. Install body assembly (8) to manifold assembly (9).

5. Install gear assemblies (5) and (6).

6. Use Tooling (A) to install two sleeve bearings (3) in cover assembly (2). Install the bearings into the bores so that the bearings are 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) below the surface of the manifold assembly. Install the bearings so that the bearing joints are 30° ± 15° from the centerline, as shown.

   Note: After installation the bore of new bearings must be 31.786 ± 0.008 mm (1.2514 ± 0.0003 inch).

7. Install O-ring seal (4).

9. Install six bolts (1).

   Note: After assembly, the transmission charging pump must turn freely by hand.

1. Install the transmission charging pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Transmission Charging) - Install".
