Valve Rocker Arms And Lifters

Usage:

Install lifter assembly as follows:

A. Rotate camshaft so camshaft lobe is opposite the lifter bore.

B. Install guide spring on lifter assembly.

C. Put lifter assembly in engine oil and install into lifter bore so the the tab on the guide spring is located within area (A).

D. Push lifter assembly into bore until contact is made with the camshaft.

(1) Torque for bolts that hold rocker arms ... 24 ± 7 N·m (18 ± 5 lb ft)

(2) Torque for locknut for valve adjustment ... 33 ± 7 N·m (24 ± 5 lb ft)

(3) Diameter of the shaft for the rocker arms ... 21.793 to 21.823 (.8580 to .8592 in)

Minimum permissible diameter (worn) ... 21.768 mm (.8570 in)

Bore in bearings for the rocker arms (new) ... 21.852 ± 0.020 mm (.8603 ± .0008 in)

Maximum permissible bore (worn) ... 21.920 mm (.8630 in)

Maximum permissible clearance between bore in bearing and shaft (worn) ... 0.13 mm (.005 in)

(4) Clearance for inlet valves ... 0.38 +0.13, -0.03 mm (.015 +.005 -.001 in)

Clearance for exhaust valves ... 0.64 +0.13, -0.03 mm (.025 +.005 -.001 in)

(5) Diameter of lifter ... 29.464 ± 0.015 mm (1.1600 ± .0006 in)

Bore in cylinder block for lifter ... 29.525 ± 0.025 mm (1.1624 ± .0010 in)
