Computer Aided Earthmoving System Basic (CAESBasic) Caterpillar


Radio Utility

Usage:

The RadioLink utility allows you to change the network number or the frequency channel on a TC900B or a SiteNet 450 radio. The RadioLink utility runs on the CAESbasic CD550 display. You can only configure radios that have firmware version 1.4 or greater with this utility. IP radios cannot be configured with this utility.

Note: RadioLink only works with the CAESbasic version 4 harness.

Starting RadioLink and Connecting to the Radio

  1. Connect the radio to the GPS receiver as you would for normal CAESbasic operation.

  1. Hold down "F3" and "F4" on the CD550 when powering up the CD550.

    Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7806, "CD550 Display" for more information on working with the CD550.

  1. Press the "NEXT" key twice. Then press the right arrow key in order to highlight the "Windows" folder.

  1. Press the "OK" key.

  1. Press the "NEXT" key twice. Then press the down arrow key until "RadioLink" is highlighted.

  1. Press the "OK" key. The utility automatically attempts to connect to the radio. A dialog similar to the dialog in illustration 1 appears.

    Do the following if the connection fails.

    1. Check that the radio is connected to the GPS receiver.

    1. Press the soft key ("Connect to radio") in order to reconnect to the radio when the dialog in illustration 2 appears.

TC900B Radios

RadioLink only works with radios that have firmware versions 1.40 or later.

  1. If RadioLink detects a TC900B radio, the dialog in illustration 3 appears.

    The network number that is shown defaults to "Unknown".

  1. Use the down arrow key and the up arrow key in order to select the required network channel (Network 1-40).

  1. Press the "OK" key in order to save the radio network changes and power down the display, or press the "ESC" key in order to cancel the changes.

Note: The radio must have the same network number as the base station radio that you want to receive GPS corrections from.

SiteNet 450 Radio

  1. If RadioLink detects a SiteNet 450 radio, the screen shown in illustration 4 appears.

  1. The SiteNet 450 has a selection of up to twenty preset frequency channels. Use the down arrow key and the up arrow key in order to select the channel that is desired. The current radio frequency channel is displayed on start up.

  1. Press the "OK" key in order to save the radio frequency channel and power down the display, or press the "ESC" key in order to cancel the changes.

Note: The radio must have the same frequency channel as the base station radio that you want to receive GPS corrections from.
