SUBJECT: A MORE DURABLE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH IS AVAILABLE FOR B-SERIES AND C-SERIES WHEELED EXCAVATORS
PROBLEM:
The 8U-2158 Pressure Switch and the 163-2084 Pressure Switch that are used on the B-Series and C-Series Wheeled Excavators in order to switch the brake lights on and off will fail. The switches fail due to soot build-up that forms on the contacts inside the switches.
SOLUTION:
The 8U-2158 Pressure Switch and the 163-2084 Pressure Switch have an improved service-replacement switch assembly in order to prevent future failures. The new 252-6677 Pressure Switch has
self-cleaning contacts, which prevents soot build-up.
The old switches are used in other circuits on the wheeled excavator models where the new 252-6677 Switch assembly is also operational.
In instances where the 163-2084 Pressure Switch is being replaced, the terminal numbers for the wiring harness are unchanged. However, in cases where the 8U-2158 Pressure Switch is being replaced the wires connected to the 8U-2158 Pressure Switch are to be connected to terminals 1 and 4 on the 252-6677 Pressure Switch.
Note: It does not matter which wire is on terminal 1 and which wire is on terminal 4. Also, it is not necessary to use the ground terminal on the 252-6677 Pressure Switch in either case.
