Drain Back Holes Must Be Drilled In 238-2703 Pistons When Used In Lightly Loaded Marine Auxiliary Engines

SUBJECT: Lightly Loaded Marine Auxiliary Engines may require Machining Drain Back Holes in the Oil Ring Groove to maintain Oil Control
PROBLEM:
238-2703 pistons do not have drain back holes machined into the oil ring groove. These drain back holes allow for proper oil control in light load marine auxiliary conditions.
SOLUTION:
Drill four 2.4mm (0.095") holes in the oil ring groove into the cavity of the piston as shown below.
NOTE: Use the same dimensions to drill holes 180 across from the holes shown in the graphic below.
The Illustration shows the location and dimensions to add 4 oil drain back holes in the 3300 pistons.
