SUBJECT:

NEW CRANKSHAFT SEALS FOR THE FRONT AND FOR THE REAR ARE NOW IN PROUDUCTION BUT ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO BE ORDERED AT THIS TIME

PROBLEM:

New Crankshaft Seals for the Front and for the Rear are now in production. These new seals incorporate a one-piece seal/wear sleeve combination. The new crankshaft seals have a redesigned wear sleeve that has a flanged face. This new, flanged face rotates with the crankshaft in order to keep dirt away from the sealing lip, which provides improved control of contaminants. The New Crankshaft front and rear seals "will not" be available for parts replacement until the current inventory is exhausted.

SOLUTION:

The new seals will be available when inventory of old seals are exhausted. Estimated time for the inventory to be exhausted is 3 Months. An announcement will be made in a Service Magazine, Truck engine News and Engine News articles around April 1 when the new seals are in stock.

The new seals are direct replacements for all former seals. When replacing the old design crankshaft seals, replace with the original seal part numbers until the inventory is exhausted. If you encounter seals of the new design before they are available in the parts system, replace the new seal design with the old style seal. Refer to table 1 for more information.

Note: The assembly procedure of the new seals "is not" changed from the old design.

The removal procedure of the new seals "is changed" from the old design due to the face on the wear sleeve. The seal face is blocked by the new flanged-face on the wear sleeve. (See Removal Procedure below)
