Pump Coupling Assembly Bolt Torque Increased On Wheeled Excavators Caterpillar

Pump Coupling Assembly Bolt Torque Increased On Wheeled Excavators

Usage:

EXCAVATORSM312 (6TL632-UP),
M315 (7ML1212-UP),
M318 (8AL1755-UP, 6ES237-UP, 8SS457-UP),
M320 (6WL291-UP, 9PS259-UP) EXCAVATORS

Problem:

The bolted joint between the main pump shaft and the adjoining coupling may loosen on the M300 Wheeled Excavators. Refer to Table 1 for the effected group numbers.

Solution:

The assembly torque of the 6V-4429 Bolt (1) has been increased from 150 N·m (111.0 lb ft) to 210 N·m (155.0 lb ft). This increased bolt torque requires that you must use the thicker 170-1350 Washer (2), which is 12 mm thick compared to the former washer that was 8 mm thick. This change is adaptable to the above listed SNs (Serial Numbers). Also, effective with this change, Loctite 262 is no longer used at this joint. Refer to Illustration 1.

NOTE: This change does not affect the machines that are equipped with the alternative coupling that are listed in Table 2.Table 1.
