VIMS May Reset When Loader Payload Data Is Downloaded With VIMSpc99 Or Accessed VIA The Loader Payload Menu

Usage:

WHEEL LOADERS992G (7HR, ADZ),
994 (9YF),
994D (3TZ) WHEEL LOADER

Problem:

Reference: Service Manual, RENR2517, 992G, 994, 994D Wheel Loader Payload System

Occasionally the VIMS System does a reset (reboot/self-test) when loader payload data is accessed via a VIMSpc99 download or the Loader Payload Menu via the keypad. This has been reported at several sites. In all cases the operators were NOT using the payload system. This problem is caused when the VIMS main module is turned OFF (key start switch) 50 times before there are 50 lifts performed by the loader. This situation can occur when the machine is used for cleanup and is not used for regular loading operations.

Solution:

If the machine is used in normal loading operations, the VIMS Loader Payload System should not be affected by this problem. For machines that are not used in normal loading operations, the error can be avoided.

* When performing a download of the onboard data with VIMSpc99, make sure payload data is not selected and do not access the Loader Payload menu via the message center and keypad.
* You may also turn the Loader Payload System OFF via the Loader Payload menu.

If VIMS has reset, the user should upload the same VIMS source and configuration software as soon as possible. This will clear the onboard memory and may prevent future resets. Remember to turn the Loader Payload System OFF in the Loader Payload menu if the system is not being used. This problem will be addressed in a future software release.
