Problem:
The 6C-3568 (Test Cell) Oil Filter and 6C-3569 (Test Cell) Oil Screen are installed between the standard engine oil filter and the oil filter base for the initial test run of these newly manufactured marine engines and machine engines. The test cell oil screen and test cell oil filter are supposed to be removed after the engines are tested. The test cell oil screen and test cell oil filter may not have been removed from some of the above marine engines and machine engines.
Solution:
Caterpillar Dealers should check the above engines and machines in:
- * Their engine stock
- * The OEM's engine stock
- * The boat dealers stock
- * Their customer boats
- * The OEM's engine stock
If the test cell screen and test cell filter are present, do the REMOVAL PROCEDURE.
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
- 1. Remove and retain the standard engine oil filter.
- 2. Remove the test cell oil screen and test cell oil filter.
- 3. Put clean engine oil on the seal of the standard engine oil filter.
- 4. Re-install the standard engine oil filter.
NOTE: Spin on the oil filter by hand until the oil filter seal just contacts the oil filter base. Then tighten the oil filter an additional 3/4 turn.
This checking and rework will be covered by standard warranty.
