Usage:
Problem:
Some D400E Series II machines may have been shipped with an incorrect exhaust muffler extension. Machines with a standard dump body require a 144-0964 Outlet Muffler, which has a full internal bore. Machines with an exhaust-heated body require a 149-9695 Outlet Tube Assembly, which has an Orifice Plate welded inside the bore to reduce the bore diameter. If a standard machine is fitted with a 149-9695 Outlet Tube Assembly, damage could occur to the Air Filter.

Solution:
When installing the muffler extension at new machine assembly, ensure that the standard dump body configuration is fitted with the 144-0964 Outlet Muffler.
If a standard machine has been supplied with a 149-9695 Outlet Tube Assembly (with an Orifice Plate), the Orifice Plate can be removed. Do not mark the internal bore of the muffler.

If an exhaust heated body has a 144-0964 Outlet Muffler (with a full internal bore), a new 149-9695 Outlet Tube Assembly (with an Orifice Plate) can be ordered. Do not attempt to weld an Orifice Plate into the bore.
