Usage:
CHALLENGER 45 (1DR),
CHALLENGER 55 (7DM) AGRICULTURAL TRACTORS
Problem:
The serial information number (SIN) plate on earlier Challenger Rowcrop Agricultural Tractors was constructed of a non-durable decal. If damaged, the replacement procedure was not documented.
Solution:
Previously, the damaged decal needed to be removed, all information still legible recorded, and the information and decal remains returned to Caterpillar Corporate Security or a factory representative for SIN decal replacement.
Recently, the SIN decal has been replaced with a stamped metal plate which is riveted in place. Damaged SIN decals should be replaced with the 174-4598 Serial Number Plate. This is the only SIN plate acceptable for use on these machines. Unstamped 174-4598 Serial Number Plates are available through the Morton parts system.
The dealer is responsible for stamping the replacement SIN plate. If you are missing some SIN plate information, or you have any questions about SIN plate replacement procedures on these machines, please contact Caterpillar Agricultural Products at (815) 754-8426.
