Problem:
Failure of the Front Output Shaft in the Direct Drive Transmission for some All-Wheel Drive machines have been reported. The shaft failures have resulted from the loosening and dislocation of the 9U-8875 Retaining Ring (3)on the 152-8117 Shaft Assembly (1). See Illustration 1.
Machines with the following transmission serial numbers are subject to this type of shaft failure: 15588 D97 7674 through 15588 B98 15009.
Solution:
Replace the parts shown in Table 1 and Illustration 1. See Service Manual Module SENR1206-01 and Service Magazine article listed for disassembly and assembly instructions.
NOTE: The parts listed in Table 1 ALL require replacement. Inspect all other parts and replace as necessary.
A Service Letter to address the shaft failures is pending.
