Unlatched Condition Of Operator Console (Armrest) May Prevent Or Interrupt Machine Operations

Usage:

MINI HYDRAULIC EXCAVATORS301.5 (3YW1-1150) Mini Hydraulic Excavators

Problem:

Failure of the Operator Console (Armrest) to properly latch and to remain latched may prevent the machine from starting or may cause deactivation of the hydraulic system during machine operations.

Solution:

Proper adjustment of the 109-5008 Conical Bumper (1) provides the correct latching resistance and maintains the latched condition of the console (armrest). See Illustrations 1 and 2.

Bumper (1) should be adjusted for any of the following conditions:

(a) Console (armrest) is not firmly fastened in the latched position.
(b) Console (armrest) can be raised without releasing the latch.
(c) Console (armrest) fails to latch.
(d) Console (armrest) requires excessive pressure to latch.

NOTE: The use of incorrect pressure to latch the console (armrest) may result in damage and/or misalignment to the 148-9452 Plate (5). Inspect plate (5) for damage or for misalignment. If plate (5) is found to be damaged or misaligned, repair or replace the plate prior to making adjustments to the bumper.

After determining that adjustment is needed to obtain proper latching resistance, perform the bumper adjustment procedure included in this bulletin.

Procedure for Adjusting the Bumper

1. Raise the Operator Console (Armrest).
2. Loosen nut (2) and nut (3). See Illustration 3.
3. Adjust bumper (1) to shorten Dimension A.
4. Lower the console (armrest) until the console (armrest) latches.
5. Adjust bumper (1) until the bottom of bumper (1) contacts plate (5).
6. Raise the console (armrest).
7. Adjust bumper (1) outward to increase Dimension A by 4.0 ± 1 mm (.16 ± .04 in). See Illustration 3.
8. Tighten nut (2) and nut (3) to secure bumper (1) in position.
9. Lower the console (armrest). Ensure the console (armrest) latches firmly and the hydraulic functions operate correctly.

NOTE: The bumper should be compressed, as shown in Illustration 4, when the console (armrest) is firmly latched. Dimension B equals Dimension A minus 4.0 ± 1 mm (.16 ± .04 in). See Illustrations 3 and 4.

10.If further adjustment is needed, repeat the procedure.
