Usage:
Problem:
The electric fuel shut-off solenoid may not be able to shut the engine down. Even if able to turn the engine down from low idle, the solenoid may not be strong enough to shut the engine down from full load or part load conditions. The problem is only with engines equipped with Air Fuel Ratio Control (AFRC).
Solution:
The problem isn't with the fuel solenoid, but more likely with the AFRC. A few engines have the AFRC incorrectly assembled on the governor. The repair simply consists of removing this AFRC and putting it back in place properly, using the Disassembly and Assembly instructions. No setting nor adjustment is necessary.
The problem may be important for some units: e.g. air compressors where the overheat protection device may call for an engine shutdown from full load and the engine wouldn't react as requested.
