Retaining Bolts That Hold The Fan Spider Assembly May Come Loose

Usage:

OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS793B (1HL) TRUCKS

Problem:

The eight 1A-1460 Bolts that hold the 4P-8725 Fan Spyder Assembly (Item 2 in the illustration) in place may come loose. It is also possible that the bolts were not tightened correctly during assembly.

Solution:

During the Predelivery Inspection, or at the first opportunity, check the eight 1A-1460 Bolts to make sure they to the torque specification. The torque specification for the bolts is 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft).

Tighten the bolts to 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft) to take up the air gap. Retorque the bolts again to make sure the torque specification has been obtained.

The trucks that may have the problem are 793B Trucks (1HL240-302) excluding 973B Trucks (1HL264, 265, 267). The problem was corrected with 793B Trucks (1HL303-up).
