ACTION REQUIRED
Before completing the rework, please review the safety actions in the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the engine. Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1) If the engine has been filled with oil, drain the oil. 2) Remove front and rear fittings (Image 1) from the oil pan. 3) Install the new sealing washers and plugs. Tighten plugs to 85 +/- 5 Nm. 4) Paint the new 9S-6130 Plugs and touch up all painted surfaces that may have been damaged during this procedure. 5) If the oil was drained in step 1, refill oil system. 6) When the engine gets put into service, check for oil leaks in this area. |
