CERTAIN C6.6 GENERATOR SETS Dear Cat Product Owner: The engine guard support stud needs to be installed on the products listed below. The existing engine guard as installed can vibrate and possibly contact the engine fuel line. You will not be charged for the service performed. Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 17Jul2015 when scheduling this service. General Isolate the generator set before commencing any work on the unit, open generator set breaker, activate Emergency Stop, disconnect all shore power connections and disconnect battery cables. Ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times. Also, ensure proper Lock Out-Tag Out procedures are followed at all times while work is being performed on the machine. Lock out generator before commencing any type of work. Only qualified repair personnel should service this equipment. CAUTION: The engine cover maybe hot, use appropriate protective gloves when handling. |
Step 1 ? Remove the existing engine 325-3550 Fuel Line Guard Assembly. The guard is held in place by a pressure fit and can be removed by pulling upwards from the end closest to the radiator and then pull the guard forward. Step 2 ? Locate the fuel rail on the engine. Reference Image 1.2.2 Step 3 ? Locate the number one standoff at the fuel rail. Reference Image 1.2.2 (1) Fuel Rail (2) Number One Standoff at the Fuel Rail |
Step 4 ? Remove and dispose of existing bolt from number one standoff. Step 5 ? Inspect the underside of the engine fuel line guard assembly to confirm that the center 325-3548 Rubber Cap is present. Install a service replacement rubber cap, if required. Reference Image 1.2.3 (1) 325-3548 Rubber Cap |
Step 6 ? Install the new 300-2944 Stud into the number one standoff. Tighten the stud to 7.5 N-m, no Loctite is required. Reference Image 1.2.4 (1) 300-2944 Stud; Installed |
Step 7 ? Install engine 325-3550 Fuel Line Guard Assembly. Reference Image 1.2.5 |
Step 8 ? Inspect the engine fuel line guard for proper alignment. Adjust the fuel line guard to ensure that the fuel line guard does not contact the charged air pipe or the fuel line. Step 9 ? Restore the generator set to its proper operational readiness condition. Step 10 ? Task Complete |
