Electroplated Axle Mounting Hardware Requires Changes In Torque Procedure And Specifications {3268}

Usage:

914G (7ZM, 9WM) Wheel Loader;
IT14G (1WN, 8ZM) Integrated Toolcarrier

Changes have been made to the front and rear axle mounting hardware to eliminate the use of the former phosphate and oil type bolts and washers. The latest bolts and washers are electroplated using zinc dichromate. The electroplated hardware is part of the 109-5500 Axle Mounting Group. See Illustration 1.

The electroplated hardware requires changes to the torque procedure and torque specifications. The torque procedure now uses the "Torque-Turn or Yield" method when tightening, which involves a Pre-Torque value and an additional Turn Angle value.

The electroplated hardware and torque values are specified in Chart 1.
