The following shimming procedure can be used on the 145-5151 Seat Suspension, 149-2404 Seat Suspension, 150-7718 Seat Suspension, and the 150-7719 Seat Suspension. The shimming procedure will eliminate unacceptable side to side motion.

Procedure To Add Shims To Reduce Looseness Of The Scissors Mechanism

NOTE: Refer to the referenced Service Manual for disassembly and assembly procedures.

Illustration 1.
Fixed Pivot Point of Scissors Assembly

1. As shown in Illustration 1, install approximately 0.50 mm (.020 in) of 160-7766 Shims (1) between the shoulder of pivot bearing (2) and the end face of the scissors tube (3). The remaining clearance between the end face of pivot bearing (2) and the inner housing wall (4) should be no more than 0.50 mm (.020 in).

Illustration 2.
Shock Mounting Flange on Housing Assembly

2. As shown in Illustration 2, install approximately 1.97 mm (.078 in) of 160-7765 Shims (5) on the retaining bolt (6) between the end face of the lower shock bushing (7) and the shock mounting flange (8). The remaining clearance between the shims (5), lower shock bushing (7), and the shock mounting flange (8) should be no more than 0.50 mm (.020 in).

Illustration 3.
Scissors Assembly Roller in Roller Channel

3. As shown in Illustration 3, install approximately 0.50 mm (.020 in) of 160-7767 shims (9) between the end of scissors rod (10) and the inner face of the bore in roller (11). The maximum remaining clearance between the outer end of the roller (11) and the roller channel (13) should be no more than 0.50 mm (.020 in).

NOTE: Each of the four rollers requires the shimming procedure detailed in Step 3.
