Procedure For Adjusting Hood Side Panels{7251}

Usage:

824G (4SN) Wheel Tractors, 825G (6RN) Soil Compactors, 826G (7LN) Landfill Compactors, 980G (9CM, 2KR, 2SR) Wheel Loaders

Description of Change: The side panels of the hood may spread on the machines listed. If the side panels of the hood spread, the seals along the bottom edges of the side panels may fall off. This will allow debris to be pulled into the cooling compartment under the hood and clog the radiator. To ensure the seals along the bottom edges of the side panels do not fall off, adjust the side panels in a position that will allow the seal to rest on the surface of the panel or step support.

Adaptable To: The adjustment procedure for the hood side panels is adaptable to first production for the machines listed by following the Side Panel Adjustment Procedure below.

(3) Bolt.

2. Loosen four bolts (3) that hold 124-0724 Left-hand Bracket (1) in position.

3. Pull the panel in towards the engine compartment and hold into position while retightening bolts (3) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

4. Close the engine hood.

5. Observe the location of the edge of the hood panel with respect to the round edge of the panel or step support. The seal on the edge of the hood panel should rest on the surface of the panel or step support. The seal should not spread wider than the edge. Repeat as necessary.

6. Use Steps 1 through 5 for 124-0725 Right-hand Bracket (2).
