Procedure To Retrofit 1R-0762 "Radial Seal" Filter Assembly{1260,1262}

Usage:

Challenger 75C (4KK500-Up),
Challenger 75D (5AR),
Challenger 85C (9TK),
Challenger 85D (4GR) Agricultural Tractors

Reference: Operation & Maintenance Manual.

With the introduction of the new 1R-0762 "Radial Seal" Filter and the incorporation of an anti-prefill valve, the instances of injector damage due to prefill and subpar aftermarket filters have been reduced. The upgrade to the new design will prevent use of inferior quality aftermarket filters and make accidental contamination of the fuel system more difficult during maintenance activities.

Utilize the following procedure to install the 1R-0762 Filter, depending on the model listed. See Chart A or Chart C for parts required.

Installation Procedure

Challenger 75C (4KK500-Up), Challenger 85C (9TK) Agricultural Tractors

1. Shut off the fuel at the tank or at the ball valve at the primary fuel filter, if equipped.

NOTE: The dipstick for engine oil may need to be repositioned prior to installing the fuel filter if additional clearance is needed.

6. If there is a gusset installed in the front cover stiffener bracket, there may be interference of bracket assembly (J) with new base assembly (1) or the with the filter itself. Mark bracket assembly (J) and grind as needed in order to achieve clearance. See Illustration 3.

7. Using two seals (3), bolts (5), and washers (7), install base assembly (1) on the fuel rail.

8. Remove the existing filter base and filter. Remove hose assembly (F) from the bottom of Electronic Control Module (ECM) (G) to the former filter base installed on ECM (G). Install hose assembly (9) in the same location as the former hose assembly (F).

9. Remove 7C-2919 Priming Pump Assembly (H) from the former filter base. Reinstall priming pump assembly (H) to new base assembly (1), using existing hardware and seals.

10. Prime the system as directed in the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
