There is a new brake adjustment procedure for improved inching ability. This improvement is achieved by "pre-rotating" the inching valve to take up the deadband in the valve. The valve is rotated as far as possible without causing a reduction in PS (pump signal) pressure. This rotation is approximately five degrees. This adjustment becomes a standard hot test adjustment for all machines once the valve is redesigned or relocated to a more accessible location. The pedal stroke to completely stop the machine is reduced approximately one half. The pedal effort is reduced by approximately ten to fifteen percent.
The new procedure is as follows:
Inching Adjustment Procedure
1. Articulate machine full right for best access to under cab area.
2. Remove bottom motor guard, if equipped.

3. Remove access cover on engine frame and connect a gage, 5000 kPa (725 psi), to PS pressure quick disconnect (2) on hystat pump.
4. Check PS pressure before any adjustments are made. At high idle with machine in neutral, PS pressure is ...(About 3000 kPa (435 psi)

5. Loosen the allen head screw (4) holding the lever on the inching valve shaft.
6. Using pliers, rotate the inching valve shaft about five degrees clockwise as you face the valve and retighten the allen head screw (4).
7. Start the machine and check PS pressure at high idle to see if there is a change.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until the valve is pre-rotated as far as possible without causing the PS pressure to drop. (Should be about five degrees. If pressure drops, rotate the inching valve shaft counterclockwise until original pressure is attained.
9. Reattach and tighten the lever on the inching valve shaft.
NOTE: Do not change the connecting rod length. Take care not to accidently rotate the inching valve shaft while installing and tightening the lever.
10. Check PS pressure again at high idle. Operate machine and check inching function.
