789B (7EK),
793B (1HL) Off-Highway Trucks
Description of Change: Eight lubrication slots are machined in the transmission end housing assembly. This provides additional lubrication to the normal contact area of the reverse planetary ring gear and the end housing assembly.
Sixteen tapped bolt holes are counter drilled in the transmission end housing assembly. This eliminates the end threads of the tapped holes from breaking out and being caught between the ring gear and the end housing assembly resulting in abrasive wear.
Adaptable To: The modification to the transmission end housing is effective with S/N 2BE2246 for the 784B Tractor, 785B and 789B Trucks and S/N 6LE952 for the 793B Truck. The two changes are adaptable to 3T-0213 End Housing Assembly used in the 784B Tractor, 785, 785B, 789 and 789B Trucks and 8E-5626 End Housing Assembly used in the 793 and 793B Trucks. This change is adaptable to all earlier machines. This modification may be completed by following the instructions as shown.

NOTE: After the machining modifications are made make sure the end housing assembly is thoroughly cleaned and any chips or burrs have been removed.

NOTE: Before installing end housing assembly, inspect the two lifting eye holes (4) in ring gear (1) to be sure there are no burrs or raised areas and that a small chamfer is visible. If necessary use a hand grinder to create a small chamfer. Thoroughly clean before beginning assembly procedure.
