Flexible Braided Steel Hose Maintenance {1307,1380,1803}

Usage:

Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3500 Engines

Flexible braided steel hoses are used in many areas on 3500 Machine Engines. For example, this type of hose may be used for boost sensor lines, turbocharger oil lines, coolant lines, and air compressor lines.

Special attention should be paid to flexible braided steel hoses when performing maintenance which requires the removal or repositioning of these lines. If these lines are bent beyond their tolerance, internal damage may result. The internal damage may include permanent deformation which could result in reduced flow rates or leakage.

External visual examination may not show the internal deformity. However, internal inspection using a light source may reveal the damaged area. A hose that has been deformed will have an hourglass appearance when looking through the end of the hose. If a flexible braided steel hose is damaged, it should not be reused.
