Cracks In Phenolic Water Pump Impellers In Remanufactured Water Pumps {1364}

Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3406, 3408, And 3412 Machine Engines

The remanufactured water pumps available for 3400 machine engines may have phenolic water pump impellers with cracks in the hub area. These cracks do not occur in all impellers. The cracks do not necessarily adversely affect the performance or service life of the impeller.

The following guidelines are used to evaluate impellers for reuse in remanufactured water pumps:

* Cracks originating from the impeller metal hub do not extend beyond the beginning of the impeller vanes.

* There are no cracks on any part of the impeller vanes.
