Reference: SENR5664 - Service Manual, R134a Refrigerant

Description of Change: The above listed models now have R134a refrigerant in the Air Conditioners, in place of the former R12 refrigerant. Other models will also be changed to R134a during the near future.

Service information for the new systems is contained in the Service Manual, Form SENR5664.

The two types of refrigerant must not be mixed. Separate charging and recovery tooling is required. All required tooling is available from CSTG.

Machines equipped with R134a refrigerant can be identified by a decal. In addition, the charging valves are different, to help prevent using the wrong type of refrigerant.

On those models equipped with expansion valves, the 3E9343 Valve Assembly used with R134a is identified by a blue decal on the side of the valve. The 3E9343 Valve and the 2G0401 Valve Assembly used with R12 are not interchangeable.

Instructions will be available later, explaining how to convert former R12 systems to the new refrigerant. This is not a drop-in replacement - do not attempt to replace R12 directly with R134a or with any other refrigerant.

Adaptable To: The R134a refrigerant was effective with the following models.

12G (61M15358-UP), 14G (96U9075-UP), 16G (93U3516-UP), 120G (87V9732-UP), 130G (74V2604-UP), 140G (72V15940-UP), 160G (4JD186-UP) Motor Graders;
