Fan Belt Tightener (Later)

Usage:

Remove And Install Fan Belt Tightener

START BY:

a. remove the fan drive and belt tightener (later) as a unit

1. Remove bolt and plate (1) that holds belt tightener (5) to the shaft on fan drive (4).

2. Remove spring anchor pin (3) that holds the spring to belt tightener (5), and remove bolt (2).

3. Separate belt tightener (5) from fan drive (4).

NOTE: The steps to follow are for installation of the fan belt tightener.

4. Install belt tightener (5) on the shaft of fan drive (4).

5. Install bolt and plate (1) that holds belt tightener (5) to the shaft on fan drive (4).

6. Put the tightener spring in position in the fan belt tightener, and install pin (3).

END BY:

a. install the fan drive and belt tightener (later) as a unit

Disassemble Fan Belt Tightener (Later)

START BY:

a. remove fan belt tightener (later)

1. Remove cover (1) and the gasket.

2. Remove bolt (2) and washer (3).

3. If necessary, use tooling (A) to remove pulley (5) from arm assembly (4).

4. Remove bearing (9) and spacer (8) from pulley (5).

5. Remove seal (6) and bearing (7) from pulley (5).

6. Remove the pin that holds shaft (10) in position on arm assembly (4).

NOTE: The pin can only be removed from the larger diameter hole as shown.

7. Use a press, and remove the shaft from arm assembly (4) as shown.

Assemble Fan Belt Tightener (Later)

1. Put shaft (2) in position in arm assembly (1).

2. Make sure the groove in shaft (2) is in alignment with the dowel hole in arm assembly (1). Use a press, and install the shaft in the arm assembly.

3. Install dowel (3) to hold the shaft in position in arm assembly (1) as shown.

4. If necessary, replace ring (4) in pulley (5).

5. Install inner bearing (6) in pulley (5).

6. Use tool (A) to install the seal in pulley (5) with the lip of the seal toward the outside of the rear face of the pulley as shown.

7. Install pulley (5) on arm assembly (1).

8. Install the spacer and outer bearing (7).

9. Install the washer and bolt (8) to hole the bearings in position.

10. Install cover (9) and the gasket on pulley (5).

END BY:

a. install fan belt tightener (later)
