Usage:
1. Drain the coolant to the level of the cylinder heads.
2. Remove tube (1) and the gasket, left half of fan guard (2) and brace (3).
3. Fasten a nylon strap and hoist to fan spider adapter (4).
4. Remove the bolts and nuts that hold fan spider adapter (4) to the hub.
5. Place a piece of cardboard over the rear side of the radiator core, and put the fan spider and adapter in position against the cardboard.
V-belts (5) are under tension from spring (6). If tool (A) slips while releasing the belt tension, personal injury may result. Be sure tool (A) is properly engaged with the belt tightener. |
6. Use tool (A) (or equivalent) to carefully release the tension of spring (6) on V-belts (5).
7. Carefully remove V-belts (5).
8. Remove lubricant tube (7) for the fan drive.
9. Fasten a nylon strap and hoist to bracket assembly (8). The weight of bracket assembly (8) is 39 kg (86 lb.).
10. Remove the four bolts that hold bracket assembly (8) to the front cover, and remove the fan drive and belt tightener.
NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the fan drive and belt tightener.
11. Put the fan drive and belt tightener in position, and fasten bracket assembly (8) to the front cover.
12. Install lubricant tube (7) for the fan drive.
Belts (5) are held in tension by spring (6). If tool (A) slips while installing belts (5), personal injury may result. Be sure tool (A) is properly engaged with the belt tension. |
13. Inspect V-belts (5), and replace them if necessary. Replace the belts as a set only.
14. Use tool (A) (or equivalent) to carefully release the tension of spring (6) for the belt tensioner, and install the V-belts.
15. Install the O-ring seal on the hub, and fasten fan spider adapter (4) to the hub.
16. Remove the cardboard over the rear side of the radiator core.
17. Install fan guard (2) and brace (3).
18. Install tube (1) with a new gasket.
19. Fill the cooling system to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.
20. Lubricate the fan drive and belt tightener. See the Maintenance Guide.
